Memorial Day 2010

On Memorial Day, we headed down to my Aunt's house for a BBQ and pool party, as well as to celebrate my Grandma's 83rd birthday. It was potluck style and here is my contribution. Kya helped me make these festive and oh so cute napkin rings. I have really taken to reading tons of party blogs lately and this was my first attempt at making a gathering/party look festive. What do ya think?
Anxiously awaiting to go into the pool! Elsie is wearing Kya's bathing suit from last year, Kya got a new one and Seth still fits in his 2t suit from last year. Amazing to me that most of his shorts/swim trunks are a 2t when he will be turning for in a little over a month.

The kids could not get enough of the pool. Most of the day was spent jumping from the side into the water and having us throw them up into the air.

Kya wasn't as into jumping, as she was into swimming some. But mostly, she just enjoyed walking around the shallow end, as she can now reach the floor! Here she is trying to swim from Grandma to Daddy.

A family photo! Too bad I don't have photoshop to get rid of Grace and Kevin, because this would be a cute Christmas card picture.

All the cousins in the hot tub.

Kya eventually put on Caleb's floaties and she enjoyed doing the back stroke.

By the end of day, Seth was able to swim all on his own for a short distance.

Then, Seth and Elsie surprised us all by jumping off of the diving board!
Seth was even running and then jumping! Way to go Seth!

Elsie is a total fish and she doesn't have much fear at all. This year, she learned to hold her breath while under water and swim to the surface on her own (with us right there of course) and jump off the diving board!

We can't wait until the next time we get to go swimming! Thanks again Uncle Jim and Aunt Pam!

Party blogs?!?! That sounds right up my festive little alley...do tell! I've never heard of/seen a party blog.

And I'm way impressed with your little swimmers and divers. Easton could swim underwater a few summers ago so I'm impressed Elsie can do it already. Last summer he started real swimming on top of the water and breathing. Dalton can't swim a bit. Doesn't even try. :)

By the way, Easton asked tonight if he could go back and visit his friend "that girl from Rainforest Cafe". He forgot Kya's name. <3
