Our Independence Day

Our 4th of July was relaxed, fun and spent with a wonderful group of people. We started our the day by going to church and then coming home for lunch and a nap to prepare us for the big night ahead. Then we went back to church for a potluck style dinner, games, socializing and fireworks. It was a day that I hope gets repeated for many years to come.

The kids all enjoyed the bounce house, but especially Seth. He barely came out for anything else!
Elsie made her way to just about everything, including the slide.

Seth did come out to hit a few croquet balls with a couple of men from our church.

Kya played her first game of ping pong. We actually have a ping pong table down in our basement (that I use for scrap booking). Maybe we will have to go down there and play a few games.

The potluck assignments were divided up by the first letter of our last name. I fell into the desert category and so I made these yummy cupcakes and decorated them with cupcake toppers that I downloaded from a few party blogs. They were a hit!

Once it was dark we settled in to watch the fireworks. The actual firework show was being held at a local high school, so from where we were we couldn't see the ground show, but that is okay it was still fun. It was actually better, because it wasn't so loud and therefore my kids weren't scared like they thought they would be.
My parents also came out to spend the evening with us. It was good to spend some time with them and for them to meet our new church family.

Look at these cuties all bundled up in the blanket. I just love them so!
