4th of July Fun!

Wayne and his band were asked to play for a church's 4th of July celebration down in Hemet. So that is where we as a family planned on spending our evening as well. The day was spent just relaxing around the house, then after naps I got the kids all dressed in their red, white and blue outfits. Here the kids are taking their obligatory picture before getting any kind of dirt or food on their clean shirts.

Once we arrived at the church, we found a spot under some friends easy up and fed the kids hot dogs, chips and water. This made for two days in a row of hot dog eating, but that is how it goes sometimes.

Wayne's brother and his family live in Hemet and so they came and joined us too. Here is Erica and her boyfriend Alex with his famous 'non-grin' picture face.

Hemet Valley Baptist thought of everything. They had clowns, bouncers, water slides, puppet shows, face painting, bands, snow cones, games, you name it they had it! And my kids partook in just about everything. I was very surprised at how they like the clowns. Even my scaredy-cat Kya had no problem with them, yet she would not go near Jasmine at Disneyland on her birthday. Go figure!

Here is Seth getting his face painted. He sat there like the good boy that he is, but by the look of his face I don't think he quite knew what he had gotten himself into.

Kya also did very well at sitting still and allowing Mandi the clown to paint her face

Seth chose this cool rocket ship and enjoyed showing it off to everyone. He was very proud.

In honor of her Daddy, Kya picked out this guitar.

We then all sat under this large tent to cool off a bit and enjoy Wayne's music. Unfortunately, chairs weren't the steadiest and my wiggly kids tipped them over a couple of times, as did a couple of the Senior adults. ooops!

Wayne and Southland!

Funny story about this clown. For those that don't know, my dad also clowns around on the side as a hobby/extra money. He has done this since before I was born, so over 36 years. Anyways, turns out that this clown, Jingles, knows my dad and was super excited to find out that I was Skippy Dee Klowns daughter. So excited, that he called over his son to meet me and then later told his wife who searched me out to say hi. I thought it was funny and it just shows once again how small our world really is.

Elsie was fascinated by his large shoes, but when he went to talk to her, she back up against me and then wanted nothing more to do with him.


One of the families from our church has recently moved down to Hemet and are now attending this church. So their son and family also came down to hang out with his parents and have some fun. It was a good thing too, because Kya loves hanging out with Becca (who is 16 months older) and I didn't have to watch her as much, leaving me to just basically tend to the other two kids.

One of the things Seth wanted to do most was jump in the bounce house. He and Elsie would have stayed in there all day if I would have let them.

The church also has a very nice playground, so a lot of time was spent over there. Going up and down the slide over and over was a hit. As well, as just sitting up on top hanging out and talking about who knows what.

There was also a large firework show, but that didn't start until 9pm. By 7pm the kids had already had their fill and were exhausted, plus we had an hour drive home. Elsie slept all the way home, but both Kya and Seth were able to see a few fireworks up in the air on the drive home and that satisfied them immensely.
