Elsie Gets Baptized!

Elsie was baptized this morning at church. Although, she asked Jesus to come into her heart about a year ago and has been asking for a while to get baptized, I made her wait until Summer because our baptismal heater is broken and the hose water we put in is icy cold.  We are very proud of her decision and never once pushed her into it (in fact, our other two have also become Christians, but are not ready to go before the church and get baptized).  We teach our kids about Jesus Christ, the Trinity (which of course is hard for them & most adults to comprehend) and about being disciples, but the decision to have a relationship with Him is a choice they all needed to make on their own.

One of the things I love about Elsie is her love for God.  I have heard her on more than one occasion talk to strangers about Jesus, being a Christian and getting baptized.  In fact, one time at the doctor's office, she was talking to a little girl about getting baptized and asked if she had ever done so.  The girls mom said she did as a baby and Elsie said "Babies can't get baptized, they are too little to ask Jesus into their hearts and they can't hold their breath!"

Talking to the congregation about Elsie and reminding them that there is nothing special about the water, but that we get baptized in obedience to Jesus and that it is an outward sign of the inward change in us after we ask Jesus to be our Lord. 

Asking Elsie if she believes Jesus died on the cross for her sins, that He rose 3 days later and if she had asked Him to be her Lord & Savior.  She whispered a very quiet YES.

And as Daddy baptized her, he said "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit".  It was at this time my camera decided to be yucky and I wasn't able to capture her actually going under the water. Grrr

Besides our church family being there, my parents, brother and his family also came.  I am bummed that I didn't get a picture of any them.  After church we came back to the house for taco salad and time to let the cousins all play together.
